Pinecrest is the suburb Miami families move to for the lot sizes. Zoning keeps most parcels at an acre, so houses sit back from the road behind hedges and old fruit trees. Pinecrest Gardens, the former Parrot Jungle site, holds a Sunday farmers market and a banyan grove.
The village runs from about SW 96th Street south to 136th, between US-1 and the western edge of Old Cutler. Streets are two lanes with no sidewalks through most sections, which tells you how it was planned. Pinecrest Gardens occupies the old Parrot Jungle grounds on Red Road, with a splash pad, a cypress boardwalk and concerts on the lawn.
Suniland and Evelyn Greer parks handle the sports fields. The public schools here rank among the strongest in Miami-Dade, which is the other reason the neighborhood holds its value the way it does.
Space is the point. Houses here are single-family, on large grounds with pools, outdoor kitchens and room for several cars, most of them five bedrooms or more. Some have tennis courts. Mango, avocado and lychee trees are common in the older yards and drop fruit through the summer.
Jatina Group holds no home inside Pinecrest at the moment. Our nearest managed villas are in Coral Gables and Coconut Grove, fifteen to twenty minutes north, and the staffing package is the same either way: stocking, housekeeping, a manager on call, chefs who cook on site. Families relocating often take one for a month while they look at schools.
This is the trade-off for the space. Coral Gables and Coconut Grove are fifteen to twenty minutes north, Brickell about twenty-five, and South Beach forty-five in ordinary traffic. Miami International runs twenty-five minutes up the Palmetto or US-1, depending on which one is moving.
South of the village the driving gets better. Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden and Matheson Hammock are fifteen minutes up Old Cutler Road, the Deering Estate about ten minutes down it, and the turn for the Keys starts under an hour away. Metrorail stations at Dadeland reach downtown without touching the highway.
We do not currently manage a home inside Pinecrest. These are the closest villas in our collection, all within a short drive.
For a beach-first trip, yes. South Beach is around forty-five minutes and Key Biscayne about thirty-five. Pinecrest works better for families who want a large house with a pool, easy runs to the Everglades and the Keys, and a quiet base near the Gables rather than daily sand.
Two reasons: the public schools rank among the strongest in Miami-Dade, and the acre lots give a kind of space that is hard to find closer to the water. Renting for a season lets a family test the commute and the schools before buying anything. We handle monthly stays as well as short ones.
Key Largo is about an hour by way of US-1 or the Card Sound Road, and Islamorada closer to ninety minutes. Leaving before eight on a Saturday makes a real difference, since the eighteen-mile stretch backs up badly. Jatina Group can arrange a driver, or a boat day instead of the drive.
