Star Island Villa Rentals

One road circles Star Island, and a guardhouse at the causeway bridge controls who drives onto it. Fewer than forty estates share the whole island. Docks on the southern side look straight across Government Cut at the cruise terminals, and downtown Miami is five minutes west.

One Road, Thirty-Odd Estates

Star Island Drive is a single loop with the houses on the outside, every lot fronting water. The bridge from the MacArthur Causeway is the only way on or off, and the guardhouse sits at the top of it. There are no shops, no through traffic and no public parking anywhere on the island.

The view depends on which side of the loop you are on. Western lots face the Miami skyline and the sunset over the bay. Southern lots look at Government Cut, where the cruise ships pass close enough to read the names. Eastern lots face across the water toward Miami Beach.

What the Villas Include

These are large properties: private pools, guest houses, gated motor courts, staff quarters and dockage built for serious boats. Bedroom counts on a Star Island villa typically run from six to ten, with grounds big enough to host a party without renting a venue for it.

Jatina Group does not hold a house on the island itself. The staffing does travel: house manager, housekeepers, private chef, drivers, security, with charters and tenders coming to the dock rather than a marina, and provisioning and gate clearances set up before anyone lands. Our closest managed villas are five to ten minutes away over the causeway.

Five Minutes to Everything

The causeway makes the island unusually central for how quiet it is. South Beach and Lincoln Road are five minutes east. Downtown, the Arsht Center and Brickell are five to ten minutes west. Wynwood and the Design District run about twelve.

Miami International is twenty minutes by I-395 and the Dolphin Expressway, and the private aviation terminals at Opa-locka closer to twenty-five. The Miami Beach Marina and the Fisher Island ferry are both under ten. For guests arriving by water, the run in from the Atlantic through Government Cut takes minutes rather than an hour of inland cruising.

Star Island questions

Can you actually rent a house on Star Island?

Occasionally, though the number available at any time is very small. Fewer than forty estates exist on the island and only a handful are ever offered for short stays, most of them through owners directly. Jatina Group does not currently manage one, so we place groups on the Venetian Islands or downtown instead and staff the stay the same way.

How big are the boats that can dock at Star Island?

Several properties take vessels well over a hundred feet, with deep water on the Government Cut side and short access to the ocean. Draft and dock length differ house by house, and some slips suit a tender better than a mother ship. Send specifications to +1 (305) 351-1548 and we will match them.

Is Star Island close to South Beach?

Five minutes by car. The bridge feeds directly onto the MacArthur Causeway, which lands at Fifth Street in South Beach, with Sunset Harbour and Lincoln Road just north of there. Downtown Miami is the same distance in the opposite direction, so the island sits neatly between the two.
