Six islands sit in a line between Edgewater and Miami Beach, connected by the Venetian Causeway and its twelve small bridges. Biscayne, San Marco, San Marino, Di Lido, Rivo Alto and Belle Isle carry houses rather than towers, and the causeway itself is where half of Miami Beach goes to run.
Belle Isle sits at the Miami Beach end, the only one with apartment buildings, ringed by a park path and a short walk from Sunset Harbour and Lincoln Road. Rivo Alto and Di Lido follow, both residential, both lined with waterfront houses looking south toward the port and north toward Mid-Beach.
San Marino and San Marco continue west, and Biscayne Island lands on the Miami side near Edgewater. The causeway is two lanes with a drawbridge and a toll, which keeps the traffic light. Runners, cyclists and dog walkers use the sidewalk from dawn onward.
Almost every lot on Di Lido, Rivo Alto, San Marco and San Marino has seawall frontage and a dock. Houses run from restored 1920s originals to new builds with roof decks, and the scale stays domestic because the zoning holds the height down. Jatina Group handles staffing and provisioning, and the dock access is the practical draw here: a tender or a charter can collect from the house, and the run out to Government Cut takes about ten minutes. Chefs, housekeeping and drivers are arranged per stay.
From Belle Isle, Sunset Harbour is a ten-minute walk and Lincoln Road fifteen, which is unusual for a waterfront house neighborhood anywhere in Miami. From the western islands, downtown and the Arsht Center are five minutes by car, with Wynwood and the Design District roughly ten.
Bridge work occasionally closes a span, and the drawbridge opens on its own schedule, so allow a few extra minutes for anything time-sensitive. The MacArthur is the alternative crossing, two minutes south. Miami International is about twenty minutes from either end of the chain.
No. Unlike Star, Palm and Hibiscus, the Venetian Islands are open, with the causeway running straight through them and a public sidewalk alongside. Individual houses have their own gates and walls. What you get here is quiet and water access rather than a guardhouse checking every car at a bridge.
