Wynwood Luxury Rentals and Lofts

Twenty years ago this was a garment and produce district. The warehouses stayed and the walls got painted, starting with the lot that became Wynwood Walls, and the neighborhood now runs on galleries, breweries and restaurants packed into a few blocks around NW 2nd Avenue.

The Walls and the Blocks

The core is roughly NW 20th to NW 29th Street, between I-95 and North Miami Avenue. Wynwood Walls anchors it at 26th Street, a walled courtyard of commissioned murals that opened in 2009, though the better work is often on the ordinary buildings around it and changes without warning.

NW 2nd Avenue carries the bars and the taprooms. Galleries sit on the side streets. The second Saturday of each month is the art walk, when the district stays open late and parking becomes genuinely difficult. Midweek mornings are the opposite: quiet, hot, and good for actually seeing the murals.

Where to Stay in Wynwood

The housing stock is newer than the warehouses suggest. Most of it is loft-style residences and apartments in recent buildings, with pool decks, gyms and garage parking, which counts for more here than in most neighborhoods.

Jatina Group manages no building inside Wynwood itself. The closest villas we run are downtown and on the Venetian Islands, five to fifteen minutes out, and the concierge work covers this district regardless: stocking, housekeeping and reservations, the last of which earns its keep where the good tables go weeks ahead on weekends. Groups often split a stay across two neighborhoods.

Around Wynwood by Car and Foot

The district itself is walkable and best seen that way. Everything beyond it needs a car or a rideshare. Downtown is five minutes south on North Miami Avenue, the Design District five minutes north, and Edgewater and the bay three minutes east.

South Beach takes about fifteen minutes over the Julia Tuttle or the MacArthur, and Miami International fifteen to twenty west on the Dolphin Expressway. Street parking is metered and scarce after dark, so a building with a garage space is worth paying for. Art Basel week in early December changes every one of these numbers.

Wynwood questions

Is Wynwood safe to walk at night?

The main blocks around NW 2nd Avenue stay busy and well lit until late, with security at most venues. The edges of the district get quiet quickly after ten, particularly toward I-95. Ordinary city sense applies: stay on the lit streets and take a rideshare for anything more than a few blocks.

How close is Wynwood to South Beach?

About fifteen minutes by car over the Julia Tuttle Causeway, or a similar time on the MacArthur through downtown. There is no direct transit link, so plan on rideshare. Groups who want both often split a stay between a mainland residence and a Miami Beach property, which we arrange under one booking.

When is the best time to see the Wynwood murals?

Weekday mornings, before the heat and before the crowds arrive. The second Saturday art walk is the biggest night of the month and worth doing once, though the district fills and parking disappears. Art Basel week in early December brings new commissions and the largest crowds of the year.
